The abutments of the DS-AY series from Heliocos are compatible with Dentsply® - Ankylos®. In addition to the innovative design of the titanium base, the biggest differentiator is the possibility of a separate screw.

The ability to separate the screw from the abutment results in a major advantage that the original products do not offer.

THE USE OF A LAB SCREW

By using a laboratory screw, the final abutment screw remains intact and is practically new at the time the prosthetic restoration is incorporated into the patient.

Due to the repeated screwing in and screwing out in the dental laboratory, the screw is already exposed to wear at this point. The screw thread and the hex connection for the driver can wear out.

If the screw thread wears due to frictional effects during the creation of the prosthetic abutment, the preload force can “suffer”. A new and undamaged screw enables the full pretensioning force between the abutment and the dental implant.Compared to the original, the Heliocos screws may be tightened with a torque of 25 Ncm (15 Ncm for the original). The screw design allows a larger cross-sectional area of the screw so that a higher torque can be applied without any problems.

Despite the filigree design at the connection point to the dental implant, the abutments from Heliocos in connection with the original Ankylos® dental implants achieve excellent fatigue strength according to DIN EN ISO 14801.

THE HELIOCOS RELEASE TOOL

The Heliocos release tool for the DS-AY series is used for the forced demolding of the Heliocos abutments from the Ankylos® dental implant or a suitable laboratory analog. Due to the flat angle of the connection point between the dental implant and the abutment, so-called “seizure” can occur. “Scuffing” is a tribological effect when surfaces rub against each other and local, often temporary, welds occur. This effect occurs after some time after incorporation. With the Heliocos loosening instrument, the Heliocos abutment can be removed easily and without any damage.
